Mar 21, 2020 · Crusader 2 is a 3D game, and it focuses entirely on Skirmish. With that said, there are mini skirmish trails instead of one big campaign. While it greatly streamlines and simplifies economy through gold (it is much harder to attain in this game), it also feels slower. Story is non-existent and the characters only communicate through one-liners.

I've been replaying all the Stronghold games the past few weeks and I have to disagree. Stronghold, Crusader, and 2 are all great titles imo. They've held up really well. The story in 2 blows, but the missions are still fun. If the 2D Stronghold's had some of the castle management features from 2, it would be the perfect game.

stronghold crusader and original stronghold simply have had the better overall system, stronghold 2 made the interface, battles etc way worse than it used to be. legends concept would have been supercool, had it been added to a crusader-like playstyle.

I did first copy just single folder containing all Europe files into game folder (Stronghold Crusader Extreme). That will not work. If you will go into Europe folder and try to run Europe, it will give you 2 errors about missing some files or something.
