The archaeological site of Shisr is located next to the village of Ash Shiṣr in Dhofar, Oman. It used to be an oasis. Shisr is an ancient site lies north of Salalah in the desert. This agricultural oasis includes frankincense trees, and it was a very important station also for water supply on the routes from the Nejd and the hinterland from where frankincense was brought to the ports along the coast.

The Shisr site is now a World Heritage site, with fences, gates, guards, entrance charges, and a nice paved road into the village from the east. There was only one building at Shisr, a small tower with a small room.
