Mar 14, 2018 · Screenshots i.e pictures of the iPhone's screen, are taken in PNG format. It's a pretty universal format that all computers and most all devices understand and can display. There is no way to change this, and its always been this way. What issues are you having with PNG exactly? Photos taken with the Camera App, are in JPEG or HEIC, not PNG.

It sounds like you've already gone to Settings > Camera and chosen the Most Compatible option which would result in new images being captured in JPG format.

Jul 27, 2017 · I even exported them to my computer, to iCloud Drive, then back to the Photos app to check if they were still PNG files and didn't somehow convert themselves to JPEG, but they still were. When I exported them, they appeared having transparent backgrounds, but when I sent them back to my phone, they were white.

All notifications/tabs are on, I’ve done an insane amount of troubleshooting, and I’m getting new mail but the only way I know is I have to open my phone and actually look at the app. I’ve deleted and reinstalled the app. I’ve shut down and restarted my phone.

Sep 4, 2017 · Photos is storing the PNG files with transparency, but it cannot display the transparent background. Photos is meant to be used for photos and not graphics. But if you export a PNG file from Photos again with "File > Export unmodified original", the original file with the transparent background should be exported.

Aug 9, 2021 · Have been copying photos from phone to pc for years without trouble. Windows photo app says "can't open this file because the format is currently unsupported or the file is corrupted. I can toggle settings on the phone photos to show heic or jpg format with Automatic or Keep Originals settings. Neither works properly.
