Apr 15, 2012 · It’s advise that you don’t use the gasket material extra on the tensioner. If it gets old and into the engine, it’s not good. It could clog up the oil lube path. Just install the new tensioner and the o ring will do it’s job. The leak is common and very bad design. I changed mine less than 10000 miles ago and it leaks again.

Jul 12, 2013 · I have a 98 honda accord and it is leaking oil under my distributor and I have replaced my valve cover gasket, distributor o-ring, my distributor, new inner seal, oil pressure switch gasket, and vtec solenoid gasket both of them. May 14, 2016 · I replaced the o-ring (91301-P8A-A00) behind the camshaft thrust cover assembly (12230-P8A-A00), a stupid-easy job that sealed that source of leakage. I removed the oil pan–a slightly less easy job–cleaned off the original 16yo RTV and scoured the pan to a shiny finish. I inspected the pan and confirmed that the cracks were in fact superficial.
