Per the SDS, Ronsonol lighter fluid contains Aliphatic hydrocarbon,Hydrocarbons, C7-C9 (Heptane? Nonane?), n-alkanes, isoalkanes, cyclics.

Mar 1, 2020 · Naphtha is an aggressive agent, it's viscosity is somewhat less than that of water... if there are any small unnoticed fissures, cracks, punctures, etc., the naphtha can wick it's way under the finish.. If that happens it will cause the wood to swell... making the crack worse.

Jan 8, 2019 · On my can of Caig D5, used for cleaning pots, I noticed after several years of use that the only ingredient listed on it is Naphtha. If you can get a name brand cigarette lighter fluid like Zippo or Ronsonol, it is pure naphtha, I once bought a dollar-store brand that obviously wasn't pure, it didn't work as well for cleaning guitars and such.

Apr 11, 2016 · This I don't know since in the past I just went by the label on the Ronsonol container and never bothered with an MSDS search. FWIW Naphtha is kind of a generic label for a class of light petroleum distillates and I believe it can cover a range of compounds. So I am not that sure what is contained in products labeled as naphtha.

Oct 28, 2018 · Naphtha and a clean rag will get the crud off. A fine abrasive might be warranted on the frets, but I would avoid anything that leaves behind fine material that could (a) rust or (b) stick to the pickups. If you can’t find naptha, Ronsonol cigarette lighter fluid is the same thing.
