Moody Air Force Base (AFB) (IATA: VAD, ICAO: KVAD, FAA LID: VAD) is a United States Air Force installation near Valdosta, Georgia.

Moody AFB is located in south Georgia, just 30 miles north of the Florida border. The base lies 10 miles northeast of the city of Valdosta on Georgia highway 125, also known as Bemiss Road. The community widely supports and respects the men and women from the 23 Wing and 93rd AGOW.

On Sept. 18, 1947, the Air Force became an independent service, and Moody Field became Moody Air Force Base. When the Korean War broke out in June 1950, the Air Force's pilot training goal began escalating from 3,000 per year in 1950 to 7,200 per year by mid-1953.

Moody AFB is located near Valdosta, Georgia. The 23rd Wing of the Air Combat Command serves as host unit and conducts missions specializing in search and rescue but also involving close air support, force protection and humanitarian operations.

Moody Air Force Base is located in south Georgia, just 30 miles north of the Florida border. The Major Command at Moody is the Air Combat Command (ACC).

While stationed at Moody Air Force Base you’ll have the opportunity to train at premier Air Force Base while the central location provides the chance to experience everything the Peach State has to offer.

Spread over two counties – Lanier and Lowndes – and less than 15 km away from Valdosta, Moody Air Force Base is one of the multitude of military installations built to support World War II, prior to the United States of America joining it.
