Feb 7, 2025 · For MC Cable, PI No. 2883-NFPA 70-2023 reads almost identical to the PI on NM cable, just with the name changed. You could still use tie wire if UL 2239 has standards for tie wire. MC cable consists of an outer jacket of thin metal armor and is filled with individually insulated conductors which are contained in a jacket. MC cable has an ECG, but the armor isn't suitable for grounding.

Sometimes chnages in contract occur without detailing each item, such as the type MC (or steel compression couplings vs cast). I was curious if Type MC automatically covered the steel aspect, or is no MC spec complete without a steel or aluminum choice.

Nov 14, 2024 · AC is armored cable made with paper individually wrapping the conductors and a thin aluminum bonding strip which with the armor serves as the EGC. BX is a slang name for AC. Metal Clad or MC cable is different. Regular MC has a green EGC, MC-ap has a #10 aluminum conductor in contact with the armor to create the EGC.

Sep 17, 2017 · I have seen MC and 3/8" flex supported by metal one hole clips that look similar to one EMT clips but smaller. I typically use everything from romex staples to tywraps with the eyelets. The T-75 staple gun with 7/8" staples holds well in lot of applications.

I would think most plastic single gang boxes are listed for type NM or UF cable only, which would preclude running MC into one.

NEC states you can use MC in wet locations as long as it meets what the text says. NEC 330.10(A). What kind of connectors are you using which would not be acceptable?
