Omega Lutra yeast? - Homebrew Talk
Sep 8, 2020 · I second this. The whole point of Lutra is that it’s “shockingly clean.” The whole point of intentionally underpitching is to the stress the yeast and encourage ester development. Seems counterintuitive. I really, really like the one beer I made with Lutra. I pitched the whole pack, no starter, and doubled the yeast nutrient.
Lutra grain to glass - Homebrew Talk
Oct 27, 2022 · My gut tells me that Lutra can shave 2-3 days off my usual process, which is usually one week to ferment and one week to condition (sometimes 2 weeks to condition) . But it still needs time to flocc out, so trying to go grain to glass in a week would likely result in a fairly hazy beer for a few weeks at least.
Non-Lager Styles with Lutra Kveik - Homebrew Talk
May 16, 2021 · The lutra was cold conditioning/serving 11 days for this pic. The kölsch had been conditioning 7 days. Also worth noting the lutra went 4 points lower in attenuation. The Lutra is on the left and Kölsch on the right. Kölsch is visibly clearer already, even though the pics don't show it.
Kveik Lutra vs US05 experiment - Homebrew Talk
Sep 22, 2022 · The Lutra nose is overipe banana mixed with overripe orange. I want to say rotten but overripe seems more diplomatic. Doesn't smell good. The taste pretty much follows the nose. The mouthfeel of the Lutra seems heavier/more viscous and has a weird subtle sour twang. The 05 is light, sweet and crisp with a subtle citrus character from the hops.
Dried Lutra Kviek - Homebrew Talk
Jan 4, 2020 · I used Dried Lutra Kviek yeast in an 5 gallon extract IPA recipe that I had done a couple of times before. I wanted to try it due to being able to ferment it at a room temperature of 74-76 degrees. I have only one minifridge to use for temperature control, and that puts me buying store bought beer on a regular basis as I am waiting for the ...
Harvesting dry yeast (Lutra) - Is it worth it? - Homebrew Talk
Feb 17, 2021 · With beasts like Lutra, you won't even need a starter unless you're making a really big beer. I just direct pitched a pint I harvested in August of Lutra slurry I warmed up to room temp yesterday afternoon and it was off and running 4 hours later. Take the pint jar out of the fridge at the beginning of brew day.
Lutra in a pseudo-lager - Homebrew Talk
Jul 13, 2021 · Making a maibock using Lutra. Og is 1.066 and after 9 days we are down to 1.022 and still bubbling. Temp at night gets to 74 and maybe 80 during the day.
Which Kveik for Beer Styles? - Homebrew Talk
Dec 13, 2021 · Lutra will likely be the cleanest fermenter of the strains. I am a fan of Hornindal for it's citrus and tropical fruitiness. All kveik has a bit of a tartness, or "twang". I am planning on trying every single strain of kveik available and figuring out what flavors and aromas come from them. Lots of SMaSH brews I feel will happen this next year.
General Attenuation Question: Lutra Kviek - Homebrew Talk
Jun 3, 2020 · I've used Lutra Kviek about 4 times other than the beers below and I seemed to have hit my other FG numbers accurately. The last three batches I've made using using Lutra Kviek (dry) and a similar grain bill (Crisp Maris Otter as the principal) have all fermented out typically .005 above what was calculated by my brewing software.
Omega Lutra yeast? | Page 3 - Page 3 | Homebrew Talk
Oct 14, 2020 · One batch with Omega Voss, the other Omega Lutra. Both were done fermenting within a week, even kept at lows 70s. Both also tasted great (neither lasted long!) Preferred the (very) subtle orange from Voss. Also I found that Voss cleared up better and finished drier. Lutra seemed to under attenuate for me. Granted both beers were lower gravity 1 ...
