The Kentucky Thoroughbred Association (KTA) and Kentucky Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders (KTOB) are trade organizations dedicated to uniting the industry.

Each year, dutifully-researched nominees are named by the Awards Committee and voted upon by our membership. P.A.B. WIDENER AWARD – Awarded since 1972, the P.A.B. Widener award represents the Breeder of the Year.

Kentucky Breeders’ Incentive Fund. The Kentucky Thoroughbred Breeders’ Incentive Fund, handled by the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission, was established in 2005 and consists of 80 percent of all receipts collected from the sales and use tax on the fees paid for breeding a stallion to a mare in Kentucky with any other money contributed, appropriated or allocated to the fund from all other ...
