Mar 14, 2013 · Also, a buoy that is constantly pulling up on the pot will rock the pot on the bottom and scare the crabs. Hence underwater line crab potters generally catch a little better. Thank you for the advice. I guess I never thought of it that way. We typically don't have the grass problem where I crab so I've never had that issue.

My very first crabpot took almost a whole weekend to build. I was working with a set of vague instructions and was pretty much on my own. About half-way through my first pot, I went to install the top and side piece and discovered that I had made my U-bends in the wrong place and the pot would not fit together properly.

I've been able to find the saltwater netting @ futrals feed store, and managed to get hog rings and 1x1/2" wire mesh for the bait boxes.

Dec 9, 2006 · Best bet is to go to a printing house and get a pair of used paper cutting blades from them, mount 1 facing up fixed to the table and the other facing down bolted to the fixed one at 1 end, you will need at least 36 in blades to cut crab pot wire, you must be bored with nothing to do to want to build your own.
