Jan 16, 2020 · My guess is that the "package temperature" is the one measured by the CPU's on-die thermal sensors (usually summarized by taking the highest temperature on the die, including cores and uncore), and that "CPU Temp" is either a thermometer on the motherboard under the socket, or a differently-calibrated version of package temperature.

How it works - Core Temp
For the newer generation of AMD processors like Phenom, Phenom II, newer Athlons, Semprons and Opterons (K10 architecture and up), and their derivatives, there is a different formula: 'CPU Temp* = Value / 8'. *CPU Temp is because the Phenom\Opteron (K10) have only one sensor per package, meaning there is only one reading per processor.

MSI afterburner not showing CPU temp - help appreciated!
Dec 3, 2020 · On NEW rig, Afterburner has Low Level I/O Driver OFF and no CPU temp is shown. If I ENABLE it, GPU temp disappears and still no CPU temp sown. I also copied the profile from the OLD rig to the NEW rig, so basically identical and still no CPU temp shown, and also GPU temp goes away since Low Level I/O is ON on the OLD rig. Any clue.
