Oct 24, 2023 · In the first years, they were a sort of knockoff stripes. Open 24/7, included a chain taco shop, and some highway locations did sell diesel. More recently (within the past five or so years), they've switched to building locations in crappy parts of town, on big lots, and then adding a strip center right next door.

Feb 7, 2014 · Yeah, the Big Lots was a Wal-Mart, and the Hobby Lobby was a Kmart. While Wal-Mart moved twice and is still around as a Supercenter, the Kmart cut out about a decade before they left Houston area for good.

Jul 14, 2005 · yep, that's where it was - the doors faced the south loop though. In the last years of Gulfgate it had became a Pic-N-Sav. Which became MacFrugals (which is now Big Lots). My memory of Gulfgate from when I was a little kid was going to Playhouse toys. I think it was in the wing that exited to the pedestrian crossover over the Loop.

Aug 3, 2006 · If you like 'lake' neighborhoods, you may check out Leyland Shores, its' pricey ($380's to $500's), but they've got big lots. Cy-Woods is solid. It hasn't even opened yet (opens this Fall), but this should be one of the best high schools in the state. Great demographics. Solid schools. Go for it! Edited August 3, 2006 by mrfootball

Mar 21, 2019 · The lack of zoning means that density can grow organically in Houston, as opposed to places with many square miles of land zoned as single family only, where there can be no density increase. And, the area in the picture wasn't exactly high end. It was a bunch of really run down mid 20th Century frame houses on larger lots.
