Sep 13, 2023 · Valor Bard IS considered the worst Bard subclass for damage, but it IS the best Bard subclass for control. Damage is king in BG3, however second to damage is control. That being said, my Valor Bard and Diviner Wizard combo is making a joke of the game in Tactician mode (even more so than my optimal min/maxed DPS team did).

Edit My aplogies, didnt realize i was in BG3 sub, thought i was in one of the dnd build reddits. Might still be viable, not sire of swords bard is available in bg3, or if the mechanic is the same. But flourishes should be a separate mechanic and not spell slots.

The standard recommendation for Swords Bard Tav is to take Bard to level 6, then take 2 Paladin of Ancients or Vengeance levels, then just continue with Bard. So Bard 6/Paladin 2/Bard 4. You'll do melee, ranged, magic, all of it. If you're not interested in melee combat, then roll straight Bard, maybe taking 1 level of Rogue after level 6.
