The only factory ammo they could find was the Hornady 150 ELD-X I offered to reload for them and would like feedback from shooters who have used the 7mm-08 for Elk. What Bullet and Powder..... Ive used the 708 in the past but used the 120 X

  2. 7mm/08 AI velocity confirmation - Long Range Hunting Forum

Nov 20, 2019 · Varget seams to be the fastest powder in the 7/08 and the most accurate I have found was with H414 but it gives up about 100 to 150 ft/sec in a standard 7/08. My most accurate load is 49.5 grains of H 414 .054 5 shots @ 100 yards with a 120 grain ballistic tip at 3010 ft/sec the Varget load ups the velocity to 3133 ft/sec with a group size of .071.

  3. 7mm-08-vs-7mm-08AI - Long Range Hunting Forum

Jan 28, 2005 · The 7mm-08 is already a fairly straight walled cartridge and velocity is not greatly improved by doing an AI conversion. Between the fireforming and the potential feeding problems my vote goes to - NO. Improving the 7mm-08 is like …

Aug 10, 2012 · I am looking for suggestions for loads people know work well with their 7mm-08. Dec 24, 2022 · I am about to rebarrel a Seekins 308 to 7mm-08 in bartlein or proof CF. Will be reloading Hornady eldx 150-162 bullets mainly for hunting but also reloading for optimum accuracy out to 800. Prefer 22”but willing to go up to 24”. 7. 7mm-08 Load Data for heavy for caliber bullets | Long Range …

Feb 1, 2008 · I've been looking at the 7mm-08 as a fun gun to shoot but after looking at some of the best powders (velocity) and loads Hodgens listed. it can be a much more capable short action gun for taking large game at some medium to longer ranges. Mainly the 6.5starball powder and I wonder if RL26 or 23 can wake up the 7mm-08 like it does the Creedmore.

  8. 7mm saw vs 7mm-08 vs 7mm-08 AI - Long Range Hunting Forum

May 15, 2020 · So with it being more of hunting rifle out of the the three cartridges listed above is the 7mm saw and 7mm-08 AI really worth the trouble over just sticking with the 7mm-08? I would like to shoot the heavier .284 caliber bullets and the factory twist on the 7mm-08 I have will not allow that and anything over 140 grain it does not like.

  9. Tikka 7mm-08 - Long Range Hunting Forum

Apr 20, 2022 · I've had a stainless 7mm-08 Tikka for about 10 years now. I'm pushing a thousand rounds through it and it is still deadly accurate. I've shot all kinds of powder and bullets combinations with zero problems. This rifle has counted for many critters on the ground. Using mostly 140 grain bullets (Barnes TSX), the farthest any animal went was 40 yards.

  10. Whats difference between 7mm and 7mm-08 - Gun and Game …

Apr 1, 2017 · Both use the same bullets, but the 7mm-08 has much less powder capacity, and falls under the Short Action label for hi-power rifles. Whereas the 7mm Rem. Mag. is a belted magnum cartridge requiring a long action, and obtains much higher velocities due to increased powder capacity.
