May 1, 2018 · If you just want to add the HDD as additional storage for your system, you only need to plug it in and boot into Windows. In Windows open up Disk Management and make the disk partition scheme GPT and format it as NTFS. Finally, if Windows did not automatically give your new drive a drive letter, then manually assign it one using Disk Manager. Done!

Remove the 1 TB from the case. Install the 4 TB in its place. Boot from recovery media and restore the image from the external drive to the 4 TB internal. No dock involved. No cloning.
