Dec 20, 2020 · I was able to get it up to almost 20 meters (65 feet) [about 1/2 the height of the gum tree] with the ends at approx 15 meters (50feet). My measurements are 28.4 meters (97.13feet) with the ladderline of 12.2 meter (40 feet) and I have a 1:1 Balun. The results (best dip) are: Frequency 2.91Mhz 3.060Mhz 3.240Mhz

I have made them for 440/144 and 6,10,12,15,17, ahd 20 meters and they are all mounted on 10' TV masts, using squid poles, on my 4' chain link fence as a great counterpoise, which surround my property. I have a 2 Element Lightening Bolt Quad to compare them to as well.

Feb 17, 2005 · You miss 4 meters in Europe, we miss 222 MHz in the USA. And at LF and VLF, transformers, inductors, capacitors and band filters for MF and above are usually unsuitable for LF and below, so even "opening" frequency coverage might not allow coverage below MW.

The tuning doesn't change much between versions, but the most critical variable is the electrical length of the feeder line.

Aug 4, 2017 · Yes, unfortunately the digital modes have taken over six meters recently. 50.125 and the usual phone frequencies are fast becoming a ghost town of sorts. I hope that the novelty of easy dx with silent "computer-to-computer qsos" wears off sooner than later so us old diehards can enjoy more real ham-to-ham qsos again.
