The off base trips are badass. Petra, dead sea, Jerash, Wadi Mujib, Amman are all places you can go. The American compound is size wise pretty small but there is a good amount packed in there. Living quarters were tents for airmen (8 to a tent) and RLBs for NCOs above (2 to an RLB).
