Geddy lee USA vs American original 70s - TalkBass.com
Sep 23, 2018 · I really like the ivory binding and maple neck of the Geddy Lee much better than the dark colored neck of my pro jazz. I don't think anyone, ever, can go wrong with any US jazz though. Geddy Lee's bass isn't built any better than any other USA Fender bass, just check out which one fits you better and buy it. I hope this helps somewhat. Cheers!
How do you get that aggresive geddy lee sound? | TalkBass.com
Apr 12, 2011 · As others have pointed out before (this isn't the first time this is asked here ), Geddy Lee sounds like Geddy Lee on pretty much any bass. There are nuances in the tone, but be it his p-bass on their first album, his Rick in the late 70's or the Jazz aftewards, his tone remains quite similar throughout IMO.
Geddy Lee CIJ vs. - TalkBass.com
Jan 24, 2017 · The CIJ Geddy Lee basses are very thin at 0.77" just behind the first nut and around 0.92" (I don't remember this exact measurement) just behind the twelfth fret. I would recommend looking for a used American Special jazz bass which is close at 0.785" behind the first and 0.89" behind the twelfth if you can get one in your price range.
Geddy Lee sound, circa Moving Pictures | TalkBass.com
Nov 8, 2008 · Personally, I like the SGFX Beta Deluxe with my Geddy Lee Jazz for Rush songs, but it doesn’t have quite enough high end to get really Moving Picturesy. It’s not a pedal, but I wonder if the Tech 21 Geddy Lee Sansamp could get that tone? Bridge pickup actually. The neck pickup was fine and is quite prominent in his sound.
Fender US Geddy Lee - TalkBass.com
Jul 17, 2004 · IMHO the Geddy Lee Jazz bass is the best Jazz bass Fender has ever made, both MIJ and MIA. To me the MIJ has a little more growl but the MIA seems to be more solidly built. The neck is a little thicker on the MIA. For the life of me I cannot say why the Geddy Jazz is better than other Fender Jazz basses but I certainly like it better.
Geddy Lee Jazz - Japan/Mexico Differences? - TalkBass.com
Jul 9, 2009 · I quickly found a CIJ Geddy, and played the heck out of it for 3 years. It was one of the best Basses I ever owned. I started playing an older 4001, and traded the CIJ Geddy for a Stingray, but missed the Geddy. I picked up a MIM Geddy a year ago, played it for a couple months, and traded it for a '64 Bassman Head.
Geddy Lee neck dimensions - TalkBass.com
Mar 25, 2005 · I'm thinking of building a Geddy Lee neck replica for a jazz bass project I've got. I read here that the GL neck is thinner than normal.I'd like to find out exactly how thin. What I need is the thickness dimensions at the first fret and twelfth fret, calculated from the middle of the fretboard (between nut and first fret) and back of neck, same ...
Geddy Lee's Basses, tracks - TalkBass.com
Dec 12, 2006 · Waht Geddy Lee? Don't need to say that twice to get my attention. Let me dive into my RUSH Tribute book here... No solid info on the Permanent Waves album, it says the Rickenbacker 4001 was used as well as the Fender Jazz. Moving Pictures album, "Jazz was the only bass used (The Rickenbacker 4001 in the "Tom Sawyer" studio video is for 'effect').
What is Geddy Lee's level of musical education? - TalkBass.com
May 27, 2015 · Jack Bruce had much more formal training than Geddy Lee did. I'm not sure Geddy even graduated high school. He was born in 1953, Rush started playing professionally in 1969.
Geddy Lee - Samplers/Sequencers/Foot Controllers - where to start?
Apr 26, 2002 · I read with interest about Geddy Lee's stage setup and his ability to trigger Samplers and Sequencers with a Foot Controller: Geddy also began using larger 76-key controllers onstage to play or trigger what were now, more and more being loaded offstage into Akai-made samplers, which would record old sounds and "events" from their past songs.
