The North Carolina Department of Insurance spent the past three days in the mountains of Western North Carolina, meeting with Hurricane Helene victims whose claims were denied.The department was stationed in Hendersonville on March 19,

With uncertainty swirling around when some federal funding will arrive, state officials are now spending an extra $535 million in state funds for Hurricane Helene rebuilding efforts. Lawmakers previously approved $1 billion in relief aid.
