The ATP Indian Wells Masters will have a new champion for the first time in three years after Jack Draper denied defending champion Carlos Alcaraz a hat-trick of titles here with a solid three-set victory in the semifinal.

Denmark's Holger Rune snapped a seven-match semi-final losing streak to reach the Indian Wells final, beating Russian Daniil Medvedev 7-5 6-4 in a tight match on Saturday.

Clearly tired of losing big matches to more accomplished players, Rune, the 21-year-old from Denmark who has yet to fulfill the promise of his first seasons, played one of the most mature and thoughtful matches of his still young career in the semifinal of the BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells against two-time finalist Daniil Medvedev.
