Taiwanese star Barbie Hsu, who was hugely popular across Asia for her leading role in the 2001 television drama 'Meteor Garden', has died from a respiratory illness, local media reported Monday.

The 43-year-old, who shot to fame after starring in the 2001 Taiwanese drama Meteor Garden, opened up about the harrowing moment during the TV programme, After Becoming A Mother.

The It's Showtime host looked back on how she would immediately go home after school just to watch Meteor Garden. She also thanked the late Taiwanese actress for making her childhood colorful.
