Still, Lamborghini clearly wants its first EV to make a statement. At the Lanzador’s unveiling during Monterey Car Week in 2023, the company touted a one-megawatt output—equivalent to 1,341 hp—which would still be a staggering number for an electric Lamborghini.

The first all-electric Lamborghini could make its debut by 2030, and will likely be based on the previously-released Lanzador concept.

It'll use a shared platform, but still have what VW AG's CEO described as "very specific set-up for Lamborghini."

Speaking during VW Group's annual general meeting on Tuesday, Blume said Lamborghini's EV will use a platform being developed primarily by fellow VW Group brand Porsche, with additional VW Group brands Audi and Bentley also set to use the platform.

The Lamborghini EV may have as much as 2000 horsepower, thanks in part to a 980-volt electrical architecture. It will be a "very specific set-up for Lamborghini," VW AG CEO Oliver Blume says.
