LG has recalled \electric ranges that have been involved in at least 28 fires and eight burn injuries, with five fires causing property damage of more than $340,000 and three fires resulting in pet deaths.

LG has recalled 500,000 electric stove ranges that have been linked to 28 fires that caused injuries and pet deaths, according to a report released by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission on Thursday.

Knobs on ranges can be unintentionally activated, an issue that has proved a hazard with other brands, safety agency says.
