Mattel has launched its first Barbie doll with type 1 diabetes in a bid to foster a greater sense of inclusion and empathy among children, a company vice-president said Tuesday.

Barbie's first doll with Type 1 diabetes, which is available now for $10.99 each, includes a glucose monitor and insulin pump.

The National Barbie Doll Collectors Convention is coming to town, along with the Barbie Truck Tour.
