The pop singer and costar Cynthia Erivo offer up behind-the-scenes secrets in the movie's digital bonus features
Ariana Grande jokingly revealed that the “concrete jungle,” and the mythical land of “OZ” collided in the digital release of her record-breaking film, which she filmed with co-star Cynthia Erivo.
The Oscar nominations were announced Thursday morning by Bowen Yang and Rachel Sennott. “Emilia Pérez” led with 13 nods, followed by “Wicked” and “The Brutalist” with 10 each. In addition to Grande’s nod, Cynthia Erivo – who played Elphaba in the film – earned recognition in the best lead actress category on Thursday.
How wild is that? Eigenberg has had a long career as an actor, outside of playing Steve in Sex and the City, And Just Like That, and the movies. So no one expected for him to voice one of the animals in Wicked, and have just one line of dialogue in the movie musical. But clearly Grande is a fan.
“I cannot stop crying, to no one’s surprise,” she gushed on social media immediately following the news. “I’m humbled and deeply honored to be in such brilliant company and sharing this with tiny Ari who sat and studied Judy Garland singing ‘Somewhere Over the Rainbow’ just before the big, beautiful bubble entered. I’m so proud of you, tiny.”
