Maryland’s Democratic leaders warn that significant cuts to the federal workforce would be catastrophic for the state’s economy.

With a buyout offer still on a court-ordered hold and the possibility of more Trump-imposed cuts looming, hundreds of federal workers and their supporters flocked to the Upper Senate Park early Tuesday afternoon, rallying in the shadow of the U.S. Capitol in a bid to defend their work.

"The American government is not Twitter," Murray said on a press call Tuesday. "You can't just run around breaking things and hope for the best."
