Gov. J.B. Pritzker signed a measure Monday aimed at shoring up protections for domestic violence victims by spelling out when law enforcement is required to take guns from alleged abusers with orders of protection against them.

A major new law is now in place in Illinois to try to prevent future domestic violence tragedies. Governor JB Pritzker signed "Karina's law," into effect on Monday, which requires guns to be removed from people who have a domestic order of protection against them.
