On Monday, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration announced that Ford F-150 pickups from model years 2015, 2016 and 2017 have become subject to an investigation, due to reports of unexpected downshifts. In total, nearly 1.3 million F-150s make up the population of trucks under preliminary evaluation.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has opened a preliminary investigation into the Ford F-150, saying almost 1.3 million of the trucks could have an issue that causes an unexpected gear shift and a potential for a rear-wheel lockup.
