Multiple insiders from both the Texas Longhorns and Detroit Lions are reporting that the Lions are set to hire Texas running backs coach Tashard Choice to join

The Lions are reportedly hiring a new running backs coach who worked with Gibbs in college, and moving some staff pieces around.

Tashard Choice appears headed back to the NFL. The Texas Longhorns running backs coach, according to multiple reports Thursday, is expected to head to the Detroit Lions to fill the same role on Dan Campbell’s staff. He had served as running backs coach at UT since 2021.

For the second week in a row, Steve Sarkisian’s Texas football staff has taken a hit as the Detroit Lions lured away the highly respected running backs coach Tashard Choice on Thursday. The news that one of the Longhorns’ top recruiters is leaving comes on the heels of safeties coach Blake Gideon’s departure to become the defensive coordinator at Georgia Tech.

One of the top recruiters for Steve Sarkisian, Tashard Choice also interviewed with the Dallas Cowboys earlier this offseason.
