ANCHORAGE — A small commuter plane that crashed in western Alaska on its way to the hub community of Nome was located Friday on sea ice, and all 10 people on board died, authorities said. The crash appeared to be one of the deadliest in the state in the last 25 years.

The search continues Friday for a small plane that went missing in Alaska, with 10 people on board. The Bering Air flight was traveling from the village of Unalakleet to Nome when it was reported missing at around 4 p.m. local time Thursday, according to the Alaska Department of Public Safety, State Troopers.

On Jan. 29, an American Airlines passenger plane and an Army helicopter collided near Washington, D.C., killing 67 people in the deadliest air disaster in more than two decades. Just days later, a Medevac jet crashed into a busy neighborhood in Philadelphia, killing seven people and injuring over 20 others.
