The decision not to bring back Rodgers takes a ton of pressure off Engstrand as he can run his offense the way he sees fit, gets to develop his own quarterback rather than alter his schemes around Rodgers and won’t have to worry about being undermined or overruled during games when it comes to certain play calls.

Rodgers and the team struggled and head coach Robert Saleh was fired after five games with the team at 2-3. The coaching change to Jeff Ulbrich only seemed to make things worse and the Jets continued to spiral. They finished the year at 5-12 and general manager Joe Douglas was fired in November.

The Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback situation is up in the air again, and former Steelers head coach Bill Cowher believes Aaron Rodgers is a legitimate candidate to be the team’s starter in 2025. Cowher sees the team at least having a dialogue with Rodgers to see what that could look like with the team.
