Prosecutors charged a Wisconsin man who allegedly told police he tried to burn down a congressman's office because he was upset with the federal TikTok ban with multiple counts on Wednesday, including arson.

The office of a congressman in Wisconsin was targeted in an arson attack over the weekend, which was sparked by a 19-year-old man upset over the "recent talks of a TikTok ban," according to police.

A 19-year-old Menasha man was charged Wednesday with setting a fire at the office of Wisconsin Rep. Glenn Grothman in Fond du Lac over the nationwide TikTok ban.

The fire began outside the building – which was unoccupied at the time – and caused minor damage before it was extinguished. No injuries were reported.

Caden Stachowicz, 19, of Menasha, is charged with arson, making terrorist threats, attempted burglary and criminal damage.

The man contended the shutdown violated his constitutional rights and no longer believes peaceful protest is an option.
