The US and Ukraine have agreed to the terms of a 30-day 'breakthrough' ceasefire - but it will need to be signed by Vladimir Putin's Russia before it comes into effect

Ukrainian officials are in Saudi Arabia for discussions with the U.S. on finding peace in Russia's ongoing war.

Ukraine is under US pressure to accept a quick truce to end the war with Russia, with US-Ukrainian talks set to begin in Saudi Arabia.

That both countries were able to make progress after a bitter White House meeting suggests Trump is always open to further negotiations.

During talks in Saudi Arabia, Ukraine agreed to President Trump’s plan for a 30-day ceasefire for the war in Ukraine. Trump said that he will now speak to Russia’s president Putin. The U.S. will now resume military aid and intelligence sharing with Ukraine.

A Ukrainian presidential official said on Tuesday the U.S. has resumed military assistance to Ukraine following talks in Saudi Arabia.

Since 2022, the United States has allocated more than $120 billion in aid to Ukraine. European nations have collectively allocated over $140 billion.

The 30-day truce, which is contingent on Russian acceptance, envisions the start of negotiations between Kyiv and Moscow on halting the war.

The president signed executive orders today offering a monthlong exemption, until April 2, for all goods covered under the U.S.-Mexico-Canada trade agreement, which includes most U.S. imports from those countries. About 10 percent of Mexico’s exports to the U.S. fall outside the U.S.M.C.A. trade agreement, according to one economist.
