Dewey Riley has been confirmed as the latest deceased character to return for the next Scream movie, with David Arquette set to reprise his role as the former police

When Dewey died, he wasn’t himself. He was a different type of character, one that Arquette couldn’t play effectively and one that wasn’t needed for the story. His unlikely return in Scream 7 can work, as long as we get more of the bumbling, lovable Dewey we know from the first four movies, leaving that mournful Dewey dead in the past.

After confirming the franchise returns of Scott Foley and Matthew Lillard, whose characters both died in previous installments over the years, Scream 7 is now also bringing back David Arquette, Entertainment Weekly has learned.
