So when ESPN NFL draft writer Field Yates put out his post-Super Bowl mock draft, we wanted to see what direction Yates went. We have to admit it was something of a surprise when Yates opted for Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart as the third quarterback off the board.

Dart is the consensus No. 38 overall player on the NFL Mock Draft Database big board, and the Steelers have publicly stated their intention to sign either Russell Wilson or Justin Fields to a multi-year contract extension this offseason, but Yates still sees the Steelers as desperate for quarterback help.

But here it is, my first mock draft: The Pittsburgh Steelers have signaled with their actions and words so far that the defensive line is the top priority. That likely is partially precipitated by Derrick Henry’s two dominant performances against them that caused them to lose the division and in the Wild Card Round.

Now that the Super Bowl is done and the Philadelphia Eagles are champions, every team is going to try and emulate their formula for success. The Pittsburgh Steelers head into the offseason understanding just how high the bar is set so we did this mock draft with the purpose of trying to emulate what the Eagles do well and how to get close.
