Sportback is Audi-speak for five-door hatchbacks with traditional sedan proportions but the extra utility of a liftback rear.

The new A6 will be sold in Europe from later this week starting at 53,800 euros, while the A7 from 63,500 euros. Pricing and availability for the U.S. have not been announced.

The C8 generation A6 is six years old, and that’s kind of much in today’s fast-moving car industry. Audi is aware of it, so it has a brand-new one in the making, which will be christened the A7.

The new models will be on sale starting on June 1, with prices starting at €53,800 ($57,703 USD at current exchange rates) for the A6, and at €63,500 ($68,106 USD) for the A7, in Germany.

Even though Audi is about to launch the A6 E-Tron, the current gas-powered model will stick around for a few years, though perhaps with an A7 badge.
