Watch Groundhog Day 2025 on Sunday (2 February) as Punxsutawney Phil gave his end of winter prediction. Phil issues his weather verdict as the sun rose on Sunday, telling the world whether he is predicting wintry conditions for the next six weeks or the relief of an early spring.

Massachusetts has its own groundhogs who divine the changing of the seasons, and one of them purportedly makes more accurate predictions than Pennsylvania's Punxsutawney Phil.

A celebration was held on Sunday afternoon to honor the late Harold Ramis, the co-writer and director of "Groundhog Day."

The ceremonies included appearances and predictions from real groundhogs such as Malverne Mel, and Babylon Belle, a costumed character.  NewsdayTV's Andrew Ehinger reports.
