The top four teams from each district qualify for the playoffs. But instead of all 128 teams in one bracket, there are two 64-team brackets and two state champions per classification. The two largest schools, based on attendance, compete in the Division I bracket. The two smaller schools compete in the Division II bracket.

The area round of the UIL girls basketball playoffs saw teams from El Paso see their season end in lopsided losses against West Texas powerhouses and teams from the Dallas and Fort Worth areas. El Paso's best girls team, Americas High School, is out of the 2025 Texas UIL state basketball championship playoffs.
