Goals from Cody Gakpo, Mohamed Salah, Dominik Szoboszlai and Virgil van Dijk at Anfield overturned Spurs' 1-0 lead from the semifinal first leg to seal a 4-1 aggregate victory.

Newcastle have the opportunity to end an extended domestic trophy drought that stretches all the way back to 1955, when they won the FA Cup. They have never won the League Cup but have reached the final twice before, losing to City in 1976 and to Manchester United in 2023.
