Trenton Water Works — a water system with a history dating back to 1801 that has recently been mired in trouble — has been owned by Trenton since the city paid $88,000 for the utility in 1859.

TRENTON — Trenton Water Works (TWW) announced that it would begin low-velocity flushing of water mains using specialized equipment throughout its 683-mile water distribution system next week.

The water utility stated then that a TWW employee had been falsifying drinking water data, which TWW was made aware in fall of 2023. The employee was put on administrative leave and then fired.

TWW issued the limited water use advisory on Wednesday, Jan. 8, when "raw water intake ice build-up" at their plant on Route 29 South forced the system to go offline.
