Syed Riyaz Ahmad, posted as sub-divisional officer (SDO) of Khunti for over a year, was taken into custody for alleged sexual assault and harassing the woman on July 3.

Ahmed, a 2018 batch IAS officer, hails from Nashik, Maharashtra. Syed Riyaz Ahmed, who secured the 261st rank in the fifth attempt, became an IAS after passing all the three stages of the examination.

A statement from the chief minister’s office said, “Chief Minister Hemant Soren has directed to suspend Syed Riyaz Ahmed, working as SDM in Khunti. The SDM was accused of sexual harassment.” ...
