Ganjei, a former aide to U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz, on Wednesday was sworn in as the new leader of one of the nation's busiest federal prosecutors offices.

Alamdar Hamdani previously resigned from the position hours before Trump was sworn into the office as the 47th President of the United States. The move is typical of other presidentially-appointed United States attorneys ahead of an administration and party change.

Former prosecutor Nicholas J. Ganjei was sworn in as the newest U.S. Attorney of the Southern District of Texas on Wednesday, filling the open seat previously held by former President Joe Biden appointee Alamdar Hamdani.

Nicholas Ganjei, chief counsel to US Senator Ted Cruz (R), will be named interim US Attorney for the Southern District of Texas, people familiar with the decision told Bloomberg Law on Tuesday.
