In Michigan, state officials activated the State Emergency Operations Center after the ice storm downed trees and power lines, making some roads impassable in the northern part of the state.

A meteorologist with the National Weather Service said it was the worst ice storm in the area in the past 50 years. Michiganders took to social media to share photos and videos of the aftermath.
