Anna Sawai took home a Golden Globe for her portrayal of Lady Mariko. More than 40 years ago, the late Yoko Shimada won the very same category for the same role.

Shogun's 2024 Emmys nominations have made history, with 25 nominations for the FX Japanese period series and dominating the drama category announcements.

Anna Sawai won the Emmy for best actress in a drama series for the FX show "Shogun," becoming the first actor of Asian descent to win the category.

Audiences saw a hit adaptation of the Japanese story “Shogun” back in 1980. But it was very different from today’s version, and America was different then, too.

"Shogun," FX's historical epic set in imperial Japan, claimed the prestigious best ensemble in a drama TV series award at Sunday's Screen Actors Guild Awards ceremony.
