Dr. Poonam Gupta has been appointed as the new Deputy Governor of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) for a three-year term, making her the first woman to hold this position in over a decade.

The Centre on Wednesday appointed Poonam Gupta, the director general of National Council of Applied Economic Research (NCAER) as the deputy governor of the Reserve Bank of India, PTI reported.
