The company says the California Dune edition vehicles are “built to tackle the toughest terrains.” Rivian’s tri-motor EVs already offer a number of distinct drive modes, including Soft Sand, but now the automaker is building a vehicle specifically for those desert adventures.

Rivian has unveiled the exclusive California Dune Edition R1S and R1T variants, both of which sport a color inspired by California’s deserts.

Rivian has introduced the new R1T and R1S California Dune Editions. They have a unique paint job, special wheels, and a two-tone interior. The EVs have a tri-motor powertrain with 850 hp and 329 miles of range.

You can get the rally-inspired 20-inch wheels in beige or graphite, but they're exclusively available on the new limited-edition California Dune models.

Rivian sent out a teaser via email and social media stating that “ a mirage takes shape Feb 19. ” The photos included several views of sand dunes and a black-and-white photo of a Rivian vehicle, leading many to surmise that part of the announcement would involve a new color.
