These ‘warming stripes’, adopted around the world as a symbol of climate awareness, action and ambition, now include another dark red stripe for 2024.

This includes Central America and much of the Caribbean. The Costa Rican flag features five horizontal stripes. The red stripe in the center is the widest, symbolizing the blood shed for freedom.
