Some 55,000 more homes in Quebec will be in areas at risk of flooding — three times more than today — according to a new generation of flood maps coming from the provincial government.

Quebec presented its new plan to deal with persistent flooding Tuesday that will see the number of residences considered to be in flood zones triple from 22,000 to 77,000 under new mapping guidelines.
