Catholic leaders in the Philippines have called on the faithful to pray for the health of Pope Francis as he continues his treatment for a respiratory

Pope Francis, 88, has been diagnosed with the onset of double pneumonia, further complicating his treatment and signaling a deterioration in his health. The pontiff has been battling a respiratory infection for over a week and was admitted to Rome’s Gemelli Hospital on February 14.

Cebu Archbishop Jose Palma has urged Catholics here to pray for the recovery of Pope Francis who recently suffered a bout of double pneumonia. Palma, in a statement on Thursday, Feb. 20, invited the faithful to pray for the pope’s health.
