Police are relying on closed circuit televisions (CCTV) fitted in 200 sites in the city to track the vehicles used by the suspects in the murder of DMK functionary ‘Pottu’ Suresh.

Pottu Suresh, who remained powerful during the DMK regime between 2006 and 2011, was held on land grab charges and in a murder case in July, 2011. He was detained under Goondas Act on July 25, 2011.

The bindi or what we call it as a “pottu” originates from the sanskrit word “bindu” which means a point or a dot. Bindu is said to retain energy and strength concentration.
